Up to now, the intermediate transmission housing for the Actros truck from Daimler has been produced in permanent mold casting. A support arm in steel needed to be fitted to the part in addition. The engineers at Daimler AG have succeeded together with the Martinrea Honsel project team in optimizing the design of the part such that the support arm to attach the transmission to the chassis can now be cast on to it rather than mounted separately.
The focus of attention will be on India’s growing automotive sector at the Auto Expo Delhi, which is taking place from January 5 to 11, 2012. With the motto efficient future mobility, Schaeffler is presenting a large number of innovations for optimizing conventional drive trains with internal combustion engines in Delhi. The highlight of the Schaeffler booth is the concept model Schaeffler advanced Drive, which showcases a range of advanced detailed solutions for engines, transmissions and chassis.
